Romulus, My Father (2006)
I don't know if anyone else has seen this bit of info, but I thought I'd put it out there. In the Australian News there is an article about a new movie "Romulus, My Father". Apparantly Eric has signed on to play the lead. It will be shot early next year after Vengance.
Sorry I'm not computer savvy enough to post the info here. Searc for "The Australian". Click on the Arts section. The article is titiled, "Actor Philosophical about directin debut (or something like that)
I'm sure there is a much easier way to pass this info along - Sorry!!

Re: another new movie?
If this is true, it would be great. See our Eric in three films in only a year

Although I'm sure he'd never make a bad film(of course it wouldn't be bad if he was in it! ),but I wonder what it would be about??

Re: another new movie?
Thanks for the info Christy thats wonderful news. Welcome to the board
Here's the article...
Actor philosophical about directing debut
Lawrie Zion, Film Writer
April 23, 2005
HE is best known as an actor, but Richard Roxburgh "absolutely cannot wait" to get on the other side of the camera.
With Eric Bana just confirmed in the leading role, Roxburgh is planning to make a movie based on ethicist and writer Raimond Gaita's bestselling 1998 memoir, Romulus My Father.
The book chronicles the mental illness of Gaita's mother and his father's almost saintly goodness and eventual breakdown. It is also a meditation on the legacies of war and migration and the importance of friendship.
Set in the early 1960s, the film, due to be shot early next year, will be produced by John Maynard and Three Dollars director Robert Connolly.
Roxburgh, who recently appeared on the screen in Van Helsing and Moulin Rouge, said the role of Romulus had proved hard to cast, until he suddenly realised Bana would be perfect for the role.
"Bana fits the bill in an enormous number of ways," he said. "His father's Croatian and his mother is German; he is a motorcycle enthusiast and is heavily involved in being a father. All these things have great overlaps with the material in the story - Romulus was a Romanian man married to a German immigrant."
Bana is in Las Vegas filming the Curtis Hanson poker drama, Lucky You. He will return to Australia to work on Romulus My Father after playing an Israeli secret service agent in Steven Spielberg's still untitled film about the aftermath of the Munich Olympics terrorist attack in 1972.
Roxburgh said he decided to make the film after his sister gave him a copy of the book.
"I couldn't put it down and I rang her the next day to tell her I was going to do the movie," he said.
The screenplay is being written by British poet Nick Drake.
Although Roxburgh has yet to direct a film, he is used to telling other actors what to do in the theatre. A production of a new play he is directing, called Ray's Tempest, will open at Sydney's Belvoir Street Theatre next month.
"It's a play that Steve Rogers has written based on a story that Justin Monjo and I came up with a few years ago," he said. It will also be the last production to be staged at Belvoir Street before the theatre closes for renovations.
Later this year, Roxburgh will play a detective in Somersault director Cate Shortland's telemovie, The Silence. He also plans to star alongside wife Silvia Colloca in the Italian period drama, La Principessa Degli Sparvieri.
" I'll be playing a Scotsman speaking Italian with a Glaswegian accent," he said.
