Re: Untitled Steven Spielberg 1972 Olympics Project (2006) ??
I read on the Internet today that they're already shooting in Poland. You're supposed to read it on Spielbergs official homepage.
Well my internet connection is so *aargh* at the moment I can't visit a lot of HPs more than this one (maybe it knows what's important).
Just want to know if you've read it too? You may have more luck? On www.imdb.com you still can read that it's in pre-production.
Would be great if you'll know more!
Thanks

Tina, let me show you what I've found out today... I can't assure this, but...whatever!

quote: News & Rumors
There appears to be a lot of speculation as to what events the movie will focus on. One early report claimed the film would focus on the tragedy that occurred when the hooded gunmen of the Palestinian faction "Black September" invaded Munich and took Israeli athletes hostage, while for 21 hours ABC captured the events as eleven athletes were killed and the murderer's getaway was botched amidst a bloody firefight.
Another early report from composer John Williams is that the film will be based on "Vengeance: The True Story of an Israeli Counter-Terrorist Team," a 1985 book by author George Jonas. As the book's title alludes to, this report states that the film will focus on the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency that tracked down the terrorists and brought them to justice. This report has been confirmed by the Wall Street Journal.
Extreme secrecy surrounds the project - it's a controversial topic (the hunt for and killing of the Palestinian kidnappers without any kind of trial), and Spielberg is apparently keen to keep things close to the vest for security reasons as well. Marvin Levy, Spielberg's publicist, denied that security on the set of the movie was the primary reason why the studio was refusing to release any information about it. Security, Levy said, "is just another factor, but not the primary reason" for secrecy.
Eric reportedly committed to the project before reading the script, on the basis of Spielberg's involvement alone. Reportedly, he will be playing the main Mossad agent.
Spielberg & crew scouted locations throughout Wroclaw, Poland, and filming is due to start in July, 2004. Filming was originally to begin in June, but was pushed back 5 weeks for further post-production work on Spielberg's The Terminal.

I'm not sure I believe the bit about not reading the script because from what I've heard there was a script(at least a draft of the script) around from before Eric was with the project. I'm sure he'd at least have seen that. It's not like a script wasn't written. As such, there is no reason for him NOT to read it beforehand(I think with Hulk the script Ang would use wasn't written yet when Eric signed on).
I think that's just one of those tales that get started without much basis. It's possible of course but it doesn't make sense given that a script was available for reading.
This could be such an amazing film. I've really got my fingers crossed that Steven Spielberg is about to take an upswing.

Yeah, there was a script because before Eric signed on Ben Kingsley had signed on and was near ready to film--but due to the delay from Spielberg's The Terminal he ended up leaving the movie project.

Well then he can't say no. Sounds really cute
@ Andromakhe: Sounds convincing.
@ alerias: Did Kingsley really sign on it? I've heard so much different opinions about it.
